Sometimes...

Sometimes when traveling around Mexico it really hits me how hard life is here. Looking out of the window I do what we all do on extended road trips (oh, oh), contemplate life and in Mexico -- death. Death is very much an 'in your face' experience here and always there lurking on the side of the road, riding in the back of a truck, sitting in a cage at the mercado or almost happening just as you glance towards it. It is something that can be quite heartbreaking at times, especially when there is evidence that it may have been violent. And then sometimes, I am overwhelmed at the common-ness of it, I mean that it is just such a part of life. I am thinking it is better here where death isn't so hidden away or so sanitized that I am lulled into thinking it won't happen to me. Don't worry, I am not spiraling down...quite the contrary...just musing and blabbing.

A sad but very real photo, I wonder what happened there. It is times like that or when the loss of a loved one is near... is when we look beyond the here and now and wonder when and how it will be for us... and them. Life does change for those who remain and yet the afterlife is vehemently debated and contested... is there one? One must come to their own conclusion on the matter. I've been there and know that it can be disturbing, worrisome, heart felt, and peaceful all at the same time, wow! It's amazing the emotion we can go through and it should never be trivialized because it is oh so real for ALL of us at certain stages of life. Life leads to death leads to life eternal. Death to me is my graduation day and where I go I do have my own conclusion... but I hope I don't go just yet... too much to see and do... but, Whaaaatevah! I guess that's my musing your musing! :) Hope you are well! Love you guys!

Ok, a note from "The Preachers Wife"...

I too feel it's hard to see violent death. Sometimes seeing death just makes you want to live life all the more. Sometimes we see others who are alive but dead,... sometimes life is hard to see.... you all know what I mean, the abused child, the beaten wife, the abandoned pet... we all know about the wickedness of men whether we've experienced them or not... so I say, BE BETTER. Be someone that others watch.

I too, like Gina, feel that death is such a part of life. And, like Da Preacha, I believe that death is a "graduation" of sorts. I truly believe that we all, as we live on this third rock from the sun, have a purpose, be it big or small, we are destined to change lives - for good or for bad. I say, make it a good life, one you enjoy, and make it a good death, one you don't want to miss. I too want to live while I'm here...all this and heaven too???? We all know the day is coming... wouldn't it be nice to see it as a beginning not just and end???
