Yessssss...

You have got to love this...today is Quit Facebook Day in Canada! Of course I have already 'deactivated' my F-book account (2 weeks ago). I was suspicious of that word as really I wanted to 'destroy & delete' but F-book as far as I could tell, wouldn't give me that choice. Here are some of my own reasons: *it is boring to read other people's messages to eachother * it is addictive as I found myself on more than one occasion looking at friends of friends and then, their friends * it is a HUGE waste of time * it is boring, in general * the so-called 're-connecting' with long lost friends reminds me why we 'dis-connected' in the first place * it is very impersonal & isolating * joining those various groups & clubs, well, I just don't know what that is all about * even an email to an individual is more personal, let alone a phone call, or a card, or a note, or dear God....a visit (?!) * blogging is better -- no convincing needed here right? * no one can possibly have that many 'friends' ...can you say 'narcissistic' ? * resorting to the public forum of F-book to contact someone made me feel that something was terribly awry in my life I am sure there are many other reasons that I will think of later but for now I am going out on hike with the dogs. Yes, actually in the real forest, even past the real farm down the lane. Cheers and get out there and get dirty today.

Wow, I guess you don't like face book?!?!? Maybe you should refer back to my blog about electronics. . .

Chill Ms. G!! Life will go on whether you are on the f-book or not like it has before the computer was invented. . . or phones. . . or television. . . or blenders . . . or blogs. . . or where was I?

XOXO

Sweet. Canada is looking better and better. No facebook for a day? What did everyone do?
I'm not on facebook. I have my secret blog of pain (and now new life) and a flicker account to share pics with the few people who care. Actually, Flicker is so I can see some of my friends' work. I have 3 friends who take some pretty amazing photographs.

I agree. I like to catch up with friends face to face, or the occasional long email. Once in a blue moon the planets align in such a way that a phone call actually works.

Hope you had fun in the forest. I've never been to a real forest.

I gotta take a closer look at your reasons and then contemplate my own departure ... Though, since passing the bar, I have found myself spending less and less time over there ... Life seems to have gotten so busy ... Half the time I dunno where my head's at! :)

Hey Gina!
Long time no chat! Funny to read this post as I just 'deactivated' as well for very similiar reasons. I much prefer to read someone's heartfelt blog, then a bunch of people trying to show up each other's lives on FB! I do things that make me feel good, and quite frankly I spent too much time on there dragging myself down and feeling inadequate when I couldn't 'measure up'! We sold everything btw, and are in Edmonton for the summer catching up with relatives. No more houses!! Will have to catch up soon:-). Love your posts.
